What is California
Academic Decathlon?

The California Academic Decathlon organizes events for high school students to compete in ten academic disciplines, promoting teamwork, learning, and personal growth. Open to students of all abilities, it fosters intellectual curiosity and resilience while equipping participants with skills for academic and life success. Schools receive resources for effective participation.

This Year's Theme

The 2024–2025 United States Academic Decathlon theme is "Our Changing Climate." This interdisciplinary theme explores the complex dynamics of climate change through various subjects: environmental and environmentalist art, the economics of climate change, environmental literature including Solar Storms by Linda Hogan, mathematics applications, music inspired by nature, environmental science, and the historical and social impacts of climate change. Students will engage in a comprehensive study of how climate shapes our world and future.
